Gil Perez, owner of Fresh Coat Painters of McAllen, Texas, has been named the 2026 Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration's Lower Rio Grande Valley District Office — selected from business owners across 14 Texas counties.
After retiring from two decades of U.S. Army service, Perez turned to franchise ownership as his next mission: building something of his own while making a meaningful impact in his community.
